Jimmy Bryant playing “Limehouse Blues”

Some of you didn’t get this post so I’m resending the listening link. Jimmy Bryant’s sound is a musical influence for Bill Frisell’s Not So Fast: The Music of Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant. Click on the link below to listen.

04 Limehouse Blues

This song is a melody built on popular song form and showcases Bryant’s unique improvisational ability, not a blues as the title suggests.

Questions for discussion:

1) Have any of you ever listened to the blues before?

2) What is a blues?

3) How does blues music make you feel?

4) What does Jimmy Bryant’s Limehouse Blues sound like?

5) How does it make you feel?

There are four instruments playing: Lead guitar (electric), rhythm guitar (acoustic), acoustic bass, and what sounds like an accordion. Can you describe what each instrument is doing?
